Hockey Hats & Apparel

Hockey Clothing

The market for ice hockey in North America shows this. The sport has gained popularity worldwide as well in part due to the advent of synthetic ice.

Goalie pants have larger pelvic, thigh and hip pads to protect. Goalie jocks, referred to as jills have less protection from groins and have more padding in the front of their cup.

Apparel

Hockey players are required to wear protective gear since the sport is high-speed on hard surfaces. Players collide frequently, and sometimes even deliberately. The typical safety gear for hockey players is sticks, ice skates and helmets with visors chest protectors, shoulder pads gloves, elbow pads, heavy-padded shorts, (also known as jock athletic protectors for males and jockstraps "jills" for women) and a pelvic protector (also called a girdle, or "jill", for females), and hip pads, thigh pads, tailbone pads and shin A neck protector could also be worn.

In recent times, technology has been used to reduce the weight of ice hockey gear and make it more practical. For instance, a lot of companies currently utilize carbon composites for stick shafts and specialized foam is also available to make shoulder pads lighter without harming protection. Other improvements include 3D scans that accurately determine the body proportions of a player so that elbow pads, knee pads and shinpads are made to be sized for each player.

The hockey market is expected to expand over the next several years as more people are aware of the sport and as synthetic ice rinks are built around the world, allowing players in areas where natural ice isn't available. The number of female hockey players has also grown, which is good for the market.

Hats

A cap can be worn on and off the playing field. We carry a wide selection of caps that will please men and woman. We also carry a variety of youth hats for younger fans and players that can be used for practice or games. Hats are a part of hockey culture and can be seen across the league, with the infamous hat trick tradition where fans throw their hats onto the surface after a player has scored three goals in the course of a match.

We have all the NHL gear you need to look like a pro on and off the ice.

Jerseys

Jerseys are the uniforms worn by hockey players. The jerseys are usually thicker and have longer sleeves than other sports jerseys. The jerseys are adorned with the team logo on the front and the last name of the player on upper back and the number ranging from 0 to 100. Some jerseys also sport the letters "C" and an "A" on the back, indicating the team's captain and alternate captain.

There are two types: authentic and replica. Original jerseys have the exact design and are made from the same material. Replica jerseys are made of different (and typically less expensive) materials, and might not have the exact design as authentic jerseys.

Most NHL teams have three or four sets of jerseys that are worn during games, and they also have some special sets for things like heritage designs and charity events. Each jersey has an elastic band sewn into the inside back known as a fight strap which is fastened to the pants of the player during a game to prevent the jersey from being pulled over a player's head during a fight.

The Authentic Pro is the top-tier jersey offered by the NHL, and it is made of high-performance fabrics with tackle twill that is multilayered, 3D embroidery and reinforced stitching. Both styles for women and males are available. The Authentic Premier is a lower-tier version of the Authentic Pro, and it is designed to mimic the appearance of the jerseys players wear on the court.

Shirts

The team's uniforms, also known as jerseys, are the most famous piece of clothing. They feature the team's primary logo on the front, and usually have a secondary logo on the shoulders. The last name of a player is visible on the back of the sweater, and the player's name is placed below it--ranging from 0 to 99. Team captains wear an uppercase "C" above and to the right of their jersey's emblem, two other players, designated as alternate captains--wear an "A" on theirs.

The majority of NHL teams have a third or alternate jersey that is worn for special occasions, like for the Winter Classic or Stadium Series. Many teams also have a throwback or retro alternative for their home jerseys. Third-sweater sweaters are an excellent way for teams to try new things and be used as a basis for their primary sweaters.

The Vancouver Canucks have a beautiful sweater that manages to blend traditional and contemporary design. The black and blue jerseys have a striking style to them that makes it easy to distinguish on the ice, and the white stripes provide some contrast. The Canucks have an attractive font on their numbers and names, which enhances the neat appearance of the jersey.
